the esteemed Dr. Carolle Jean-Murat to our team. Her talents
are internationally recognized in the medical field, as
highlighted by the numerous awards bestowed upon her over
the years (see Dr. Carolle's Education and Awards).
Dr.
Carolle is a board certified obstetrician and gynecologist,
and a fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and
Gynecology. She is a clinical instructor at the University
of California at San Diego Medical School, Department
of Reproductive Endocrinology, and is a clinical mentor
for underprivileged students at San Diego State University.
She established her own private practice in San Diego
in 1982 and became a diplomate of the American Board of
Obstetrics and Gynecology in 1985. Recently, her private
practice has been primarily devoted to advising women
on the peri-menopausal, menopausal, and post-menopausal
periods.
Dr.
Carolle's fluency in Haitian, French, Spanish, English,
and Italian helps her provide medical care and preventive
health education to women of diverse ethnic backgrounds.
She has also provided free medical care to disadvantaged
women through Catholic Charities and St. Vincent de Paul
Village for almost two decades. In 1993, she founded the
Health Through Communications Foundation to facilitate
programs that provide free medical services to people
of diverse ethnic heritage, in Haiti and in San
Diego.
In
addition, Dr. Carolle is an internationally acclaimed
motivational speaker and seminar leader who brings her
message of self-empowerment to women through lectures,
TV and radio appearances, a Spanish-language newspaper
column, books, articles, and audio tapes.
"Ask
Doctor Carolle" will appear as a recurring column
each issue, another Value Added Benefit to our readers.
The goal of this column is to enable women to make educated
choices by supplying the most pertinent and up-to-date
information available. Each issue will include articles
that deal with specific subjects relating to women's health,
as well as a Question & Answer section. We welcome
your questions, and will try to respond to them as quickly
as possible.
